A massive congratulations to Eoin on passing his Black Belt 4th Dan!
Eoin has been training with us for over 20yrs and is one of our original adult members.
The OG! ๐
He’s shown amazing dedication over the years constantly training and constantly improving.
An absolute pleasure to work with and it’s an honour for us as instructors to spend so long with a student getting to know them and watching them develop into an incredibly knowledgeable martial artist.
Saturday was a long, hard grading and he thoroughly deserves his grade. Demonstrating a vast understanding of karate in terms of performance, history and theory / principles of its application. ๐ ๐ฅ
We really couldn’t have asked for more from the
clubs first 4th Dan student.
Congratulations Eoin ๐ฅ๐ด๐ด๐ด๐ด
Congratulations to Niall & Roger who successfully passed their 3rd Dan Black belts last night.
Niall & Roger have been with us for a long time and after many attempts by me to try and push them into a grading, I finally gave up and brought the grading panel to them! ๐
Let’s just say they were both very stubborn and reluctant to ever grade again, instead just enjoying their karate.
However as an instructor it’s great to see them move through the belts, especially when they are so clearly knowledgeable and deserving of that grade.
Well done guys - massive congratulations.
Thanks to Chris for coming down to assess them.

๐ WUKF European Champions Cup 2022 ๐
Over the weekend we had some excellent performances from the dynamic duo of Dan and Daisy in Cluj Napoca, Romania ๐ท๐ด
Daisy stormed through the rounds to take silvers in both Kata and Kumite ๐ฅ๐ฅ
After some impressive katas and couple of tough fights Dan fell just short of the medals on this occasion.
A massive thank you is due to Paula and Jen Trow for coaching on the day ๐
๐ฅ Massive congratulations to SSK instructor Paula Trow on achieving her 3rd Dan ๐ฅ
Paula is an integral part of our association - teaching in Marple, training in Urmston, refereeing at international competitions, coaching newbies through their first local comps and more recently doing the competition admin (Sorry Paula! I’ll make Ste do it next time! ๐)
A well deserved 3rd Dan ๐
๐ WUKF European Champions Cup 2021 ๐
A small number of squad members travelled to Cluj Napoca at the weekend to compete in the WUKF European Champions Cup. As usual a very strong showing from our small group of seasoned competitors.

๐ฅDan Grading Success๐ฅ
We’re immensely proud to announce our new black belts.
Congratulations to Bana, Leen, Adi, Jenson, Milly, Stu and Daisy on successfully passing 1st Dan black belt.
Congratulations to George, Ethan, Jake, Mike, Grace and Dani on successfully passing 2nd Dan Black Belts.
With the uncertainty that Covid has brought into the mix, this year was possibly the toughest year to attempt Dan grading. The students had every excuse to lose motivation, let standards slip and just try again for next year but in true karate spirit they persevered. Training in their livings rooms over zoom in lockdowns, getting back into the dojo when and wherever they could and putting the hard work in.
As instructors we’re really proud of all of them.
Last but not least, a big thank you to all the grading partners who have given their time over the last few months and grading day yesterday.

๐Birmingham
After an 18 month break due to covid, a small but strong squad stepped onto the tatami for the GB Open Championships at the weekend.
We had a nice mixed bag of complete newbies, seasoned competitors that found themselves at the bottom of new age groups and….a senior who just won’t quit!
As a squad they came away with a credible
2 x gold๐ฅ๐ฅ
3 x silver ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ
Lots of positives to take from the day, along with lots to work on. Most importantly it was just nice to see everyone back enjoying themselves!

This weekend our squad rounded off a solid month of competitions with a 2 day international in Sheffield. This served as a brilliant marker to see where we’re at for the upcoming WUKF World Championships and allows us to pinpoint areas to improve over the coming months ๐
We’d like to extend a huge thank you to Morson Group who kindly donated to the SSK squad as part of their 50 days of giving ๐

The funds were used to cover entry fees for our teams recent trip to the European Cup in Cluj Napoca, Romania ๐ท๐ด •

A very busy, chaotic comp with lots of rule amendments and corners cut to ensure it didn’t run late. The squad dealt amazingly with the cards they were dealt and know what they need to work on for the start of the 19/20 season in September ๐๐ป
